“Song of Myself” by Walt Whitman

Sometimes this verse seems too melancholy and detached — sometimes not enough. But I always love it.

The spotted hawk swoops by and accuses me—he complains of my gab and my loitering.

I too am not a bit tamed—I too am untranslatable;
I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world.

The last scud of day holds back for me;
It flings my likeness after the rest, and true as any, on the shadow’d wilds;
It coaxes me to the vapor and the dusk.

I depart as air—I shake my white locks at the runaway sun;
I effuse my flesh in eddies, and drift it in lacy jags.

I bequeathe myself to the dirt, to grow from the grass I love;
If you want me again, look for me under your boot-soles.

You will hardly know who I am, or what I mean;
But I shall be good health to you nevertheless,
And filter and fibre your blood.

Failing to fetch me at first, keep encouraged;
Missing me one place, search another;
I stop somewhere, waiting for you.

Bidness travel

One of my favorite parts of my business trips is an evening video chat with Katie.  There’s laughs, fun, sexy times, etc.  It’s not as good as being together in real life, but it’s still a lot of fun!

Reasons

You are so funny — I love riffing with you.  I love the jokes that you tell and the funny things that you say.  I love the funny responses you have to things that I say.  I love that you repeat the things that I say that you think are funny and you laugh when you do it.

You are so kind — I love how sweet you are.  You are thoughtful and loving with each of the living things in your life — I see you be so kind to the adorable (Ozzie), the challenging (Toot toot) and the leaky (Cinnamon).  And me, too.  And your coworkers, and your patients.

You are so very very smart — You’re super intelligent and I love how fast your brain works. It makes you good at your profession and makes you a great healer.  It also makes your jokes funny, which I love.

You are so giving — You are generous, with your time and your affections.  You are aware of your limits and keep your batteries charged so that you can be consistent about how much you do give.

You are so honest — You are honest even (especially) when it’s uncomfortable to be so.  I love that you can do this so gently, without being cruel.

You are earnest — I feel like there is a realness to the things that you do — you are going through life with your eyes wide open, and it inspires me every day.
There are many more reasons.  More to come!
